A traditionally made kilt takes time, skill, and a good length of proper woven tartan. Our 10‑yard kilts are made the way they always have been: every stitch sewn by hand, every pleat shaped individually, and every detail considered with care. Nothing rushed, nothing hidden, nothing done by machine.
Each kilt is made by one of our freelance kiltmakers, all of whom are paid fairly for their time and expertise as part of our Fair Pay for Kiltmakers initiative. When you order from Làmhan, you’re supporting the continuation of a heritage craft and the people who keep it alive.

How it works
1. Deposit
A £200 refundable deposit secures your place in our making schedule and lets us arrange your consultation.
2. Consultation
You’ll meet with one of our kiltmakers — in person or online — to talk through tartan, pleating style, rise, length, and anything else you need. This is where we shape the kilt together.
3. Final price
Once everything is agreed, we’ll confirm the full price. It varies depending on the tartan and any specific requirements.
4. Payment
You can pay in full or in two instalments.
Your kilt will only be delivered once the balance is paid.
5. Deposit terms
Your deposit stays refundable until you confirm the order after your consultation.
Once the order is confirmed, the deposit becomes non‑refundable and your tartan is ordered.
