We are a new not-for-profit social enterprise based in the historic city of Perth, Scotland.

Làmhan [pron. LAAH - vn] is the Scottish Gaelic word for ‘hands’. We chose this word to recognise the rich cultural heritage of the city in which we are located and to honour the handcraft skills of those who have come before us.

At Làmhan, we are dedicated to empowering individuals through the art of sewing.

Sewing is a skill which was passed on through families for many generations, but this seems to be something we’ve lost over the past few decades. We want to bring it back.

And we want to do this at an affordable price so as many people as possible can join in.

Our mission is not only to teach sewing skills to all but also to combat textile waste by utilising locally sourced dead stock fabrics.

We are training young people by offering apprenticeships, thereby ensuring that valuable sewing skills and techniques are passed on to further generations.
